Writing Your Next Chapter Balance, Movement & Nourishment
As we step into a new year, there’s often a pull to do more, fix more, and add more to our already full lives. But what if this season isn’t about adding — what if it’s about aligning?
Every year offers us a new opportunity. A new chapter. And the beautiful thing about that is we get to write it — through our choices, our actions, and the way we care for ourselves along the way.
Reflection Before Action
True growth begins with reflection. Taking time to evaluate where we are — how we feel, how we respond, and the patterns we fall into — allows us to grow with intention. This kind of awareness is where real change happens. It’s where we blossom.
While reflection ideally happens year-round, the start of a new year gives us permission to pause. To check in. To ask ourselves what’s working — and what’s no longer serving us.
|
As I look back on this past year — and even the years before it — I can clearly see how much I’ve grown physically and emotionally, and how that growth has shaped me professionally. I can honestly say I’m starting to feel like myself again… even though I never realized I was gone. And while I feel like me, I’m also different — wiser, stronger, and more grounded. My values have shifted. My focus on life has deepened. A few things have come full circle, helping me understand myself more clearly than ever before — and ultimately allowing me to show up as a better spouse, parent, coach.

As I enter this new year, I’m continuing the intentions I ended 2025 with: living presently and embracing each moment, leading with gratitude, building my faith while honoring my boundaries, and living fully into my purpose — being a wife, mom (to the best of my abilities haha), human and helping others become the best version of themselves through coaching. |
Balance Means More Than Doing It All
With the start of a new year, most of us set new goals and focus on what we can add — new habits, new routines, new commitments. But balance isn’t always created by adding more. Sometimes, it’s found by taking something away.
Think about it like this: before you bring a new couch into your home, you usually get rid of the old one. If you don’t, the space becomes crowded and overwhelming. Our lives work the same way. When we keep adding without releasing, we fill ourselves with mental, emotional, and physical clutter — and that overload can impact our nervous system, our peace, and our ability to be present.
Creating space is often the first step toward real balance.
So maybe the next few months aren’t about adding — they’re about eliminating, reorganizing, and simplifying. Moving your body is one of the most powerful ways to stay young at heart and sharp in mind. Regular movement supports longevity, helps protect against chronic disease, and plays a key role in slowing the aging process
Balance Means More Than Doing It All
Movement doesn’t have to mean long workouts or rigid schedules — it’s often found in the everyday choices we make, like taking the stairs, parking a little farther away, standing up to stretch, or choosing a walk over scrolling. These small behaviors add up, supporting our health, energy, and longevity. One concept I often share is TDEE — Total Daily Energy Expenditure, which reminds us that our bodies thrive on movement throughout the day, not just during scheduled workouts. Every bit truly counts.
At the same time, adding structured workouts helps us stay committed to building strength while also improving self-esteem and confidence. As we push beyond limits we didn’t know we had, embrace discomfort, and overcome mental barriers, we begin to clear mental clutter. In that space, our vision sharpens, our values become more defined, and we move forward with greater intention and belief in ourselves.
Nutrition that Supports Your Life
Nutrition doesn’t require eliminating flavor or giving up the foods you love. Often, it’s not what we eat, but how it’s prepared, how much we eat, and how often. Choosing foods that nourish your body with real nutrients is the mindset you want to hold — focus on options that are minimally processed, free from additives, and as close to their natural state as possible. Simple adjustments — like grilling or baking instead of frying, being mindful of portion sizes, adding protein and fiber for balance, and making small swaps that still feel satisfying — can make a meaningful difference. Will it be perfect all the time? No — and that’s okay. The goal is that the majority of your choices reflect this mindset, all done in balance. Nutrition should feel enjoyable, nourishing, and sustainable, not restrictive.
Supporting the Basics
Along with intentional movement and balanced nutrition, I often encourage clients to focus on a few foundational supplements to support overall health:
- A high-quality multivitamin
- Collagen peptides
- A high quality protein powder (especially women)
- Omega-3s for heart, brain, and inflammation support
- Vitamin D for immune and overall health
- Magnesium to support sleep, recovery, and stress
These aren’t magic fixes — they’re tools that support the foundation you’re already building.
Give Yourself Grace
|
This is hard to remember, especially when you’re in the thick of the storm and the struggle — but try your darndest to keep it close. Growth isn’t linear, and every season looks different. Taking time to reflect and acknowledge past behaviors can be challenging, but forgiving yourself frees you to grow and move forward. Give yourself grace where you are right now. When we ground ourselves in purpose — and surround ourselves with people who support, encourage, and lift us up — we’re better equipped to weather life’s storms.

And remember, you are never alone; no matter what you’re facing, someone else has gone through it or is going through it too. This year isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about becoming more aligned with who you already are. Here’s to writing your next chapter with intention, balance, and grace. |
