Feeling, Resetting, Returning:
A Shift in Season and Self
I’ve been a bit MIA this summer—life has been full, in the best and busiest ways. From Fitness on the Farm to the Oconto Falls Dri Tri, to simply being present with my family, I’ve tried to soak it all in.
We kicked off summer by promoting dairy at our Fitness on the Farm event at Alsteen Dairy Farm, along with Breakfast on the Farm. Both events are amazing opportunities to educate our community about the dairy industry. This year’s Fitness on the Farm had the most participants we’ve ever had, and the energy was incredible! One of my clients and her family generously hosted breakfast on the farm, and she asked me to create a kids’ farm-themed obstacle course. Even with the summer heat, it was a huge hit!
The kids got to “pull a calf” (a sandbag, not a real one 😉), feed calves, flip and roll tires, and toss rocks—all designed to give them a hands-on taste of the daily work farmers do. Watching them laugh, sweat, and get their hands dirty reminded me exactly why I love this work: blending movement, education, and community in a way that brings people together.
SOAKING UP SUMMER
June was filled with family time—grilling out, camping, swimming, and just being together. From birthday celebrations to quiet coffee mornings on the porch, there’s something so special about how summer invites us to slow down and savor what really matters. For my husband’s birthday, we celebrated with go-karting at Midwest Speedway—so much fun! We laughed nonstop, got a little competitive (okay, mostly him 😄), and let ourselves be big kids for a while. It was the perfect reminder that joy and playfulness are essential to a full, meaningful life.
HUSTLE AND HEART
July came in fast and furious! I made connections with other like-minded fitness professionals and hosted the most amazing Oconto Falls Dri Tri yet—with 68 athletes showing up and showing out! Some came to compete, others came for fun, but all brought incredible energy.
Planning the event was time-intensive and detail-heavy, but every second was worth it. The passion, the growth, the community support—it all blew me away. Events like this don’t happen alone. I’m so thankful to my family, volunteers, sponsors, and this incredible town. I go into every event knowing it won’t be perfect—and that mindset gives me room to grow and improve year after year.
WHEN THE DUST SETTLES
After the Dri Tri, I finally had a moment to breathe—and with that came a wave of emotions I didn’t expect. I stayed busy—celebrating a new baby at a shower, taking the kids to Bay Beach, and living in the moment—but deep down, something felt off.
At a massage years ago, my therapist Angela told me something I never forgot:
“Maybe it’s not the busy life you struggle with… maybe it’s the quiet and calm .”
That finally clicked.
In August, I made it a point to have 1-on-1 time with each of my kids—shopping, swimming at the Green Aquatic Center, enjoying the little things. I loved those moments deeply. But during the downtime, I cried. I got frustrated. I felt unmotivated and stuck. I was drained.
So, I took a step forward—I signed up for counseling. I started working on myself through a new lens of wellness. I had deep conversations with my husband, who’s been by my side 100%. Our communication is a pillar in our marriage, and I’m so thankful for that.
I also realized something big: social media is not good for my mental health. The curated, competitive 'showcase' culture—especially on social media—doesn’t align with how I live. Instead of kindness, support, or lifting each other up, it often amplifies hatred and anger. There's more outrage than real conversation, more performance than genuine connection. We've lost touch with sharing our stories, honoring our history, and truly respecting one another. Which just hurts my heart.
I value raw, real truth. Honest conversation and connection.
That’s where I thrive.
HEALING AND GROWTH
Here’s what I’ve learned:
I love deeply. I serve fully. I show up wholeheartedly—but with boundaries.
Healing isn’t linear. It’s messy, ever-changing, and sometimes painful. But I’m on the path, and I’m proud of that
The last weekend of August, I celebrated my oldest turning 7. She’s beautiful, kind-hearted, and everything I hoped she would be. Having our family together, unplugged and doing what we love—shooting bows, baiting bear, sitting around the fire, and snuggling at night—filled my heart to the brim.
I’ve entered September with a new mindset—ready to grow, ready to heal, and ready to keep showing up for myself, my family, and my community.
I'm focusing my energy on those who invest in me equally — people committed to growth, open to learning, and dedicated to becoming their best selves. Together, we’ll build through mutual respect, shared effort, and a genuine desire to spread kindness and love along the way
Here’s to taking the next steps—with grace, grit, and a whole lot of heart. 💛
